The workshops detailed below will be held during Mega BizFest, a one day event for minority and women owned businesses to help empower businesses toward growth, equip them with tools for success and assist in the development of new relationships and alliances. Mega BizFest brings a multi-cultural marketplace together for increasing capacities and opportunites in procurement, financiang, outsourcing, supplier diversity and networking, all in one forum.

These workshops are free to attend and open to the public. Registration is not required for participation in the workshops. However, registration is required for other Mega BizFest events. 2:15 – 3:15p How the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 Will Affect Delawareans
Lt. Governor Matt Denn will host a forum for minority and women owned businesses to discuss the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (commonly known as the stimulus package). Lt. Governor Denn will open the forum and give an overall view of the stimulus package as it relates to Delaware as well as small, minority and women owned businesses. Representatives from state agencies will also be in attendance to share information directly with attendees.

3:15 – 4:00p Funding Minority and Women Owned Businesses Workshop
There are still available sources of financing for minority and women owned businesses. However, there is also some misinformation out there when it comes to business funding sources. This session will introduce attendees to legitimate funding sources and strategies available to assist a small business to start or expand operations. Panel members will also share tips and strategies on preparing and presenting an effective funding package to a potential funding source.

Lt. Governor Denn and the Delaware Association of NonProfit Agencies are hosting a forum open to the public on what opportunities there are for non-profits in the Federal Recovery Act. Representatives from numerous state agencies will be in attendance to share information directly with attendees. Lt. Governor Denn will open the forum and explain the overall view of the stimulus package as it relates to Delaware and non-profits.
